Midmark M11 Control Panel

With the rise in the plethora of hostile, infectious organisms in our world, the need for potent and efficient instrument sterilization is in high demand.

Health care workers are in need of autoclaves that are reliable – in the sense where they can always depend on them to do a thorough and consistent job as well to be convenient and simple to use and the Midmark M11 autoclave fulfills all of these qualifications.

What is an Autoclave?

An autoclave is a pressurized chamber that uses saturated steam for a period of time to sterilize supplies and equipment. The name has both Greek and Latin roots – auto for self and calvis for key, meaning “self-locking device.”

As Wikipedia puts it:

“An autoclave is a pressure chamber used to carry out industrial processes requiring elevated temperature and pressure different from ambient air pressure. Autoclaves are used in medical applications to perform sterilization and in the chemical industry to cure coatings and vulcanize rubber and for hydrothermal synthesis.”

The forerunner to the autoclave was known as the “steam digester” and was invented by Denis Papin in 1679 but the original autoclave was invented by Charles Chamberland in 1884. Charles Chamberland was a French microbiologist who was an assistant for Louis Pasteur, also a French microbiologist who was renown for his discoveries of germ theory and the principles of pasteurization, microbial fermentation and vaccination.

Midmark’s Autoclave Engineering

Autoclaves have come a long way since their inception in the late 1880s thanks to Chamberland’s ingenuity.

Being in the medical and dental industry for more than 100 years, Midmark has been utilizing its amassed knowledge to build and innovate their steam sterilizers or autoclaves and as they put it, “[e]ach Midmark product is designed with a single goal in mind—creating better care experiences for patients and providers.”

Their state-of-the-art autoclaves have been made at their facility in Ohio since 1990, bringing customers the highest and quality and best performing autoclaves on the market such as their Ritter M11 Steam Sterilizer or Midmark M11 autoclave.

Midmark M11’s Features

The Midmark M11 autoclave has the largest sterilization capacity of any standard countertop sterilizer on the market. Its 11″ x 18″ chamber makes this autoclave ideal for cleaning larger instruments and packs.
